Presentations of Alfred Borden and Robert Endger use the greatest demand and love of spectators. Once they worked together under supervision of old man Katter, the inventor of focuses. Break has occured because of accident that lead to a fatal outcome. Former friends closely keep an eye on each other work. Once Endger find out about new Borden’s new focus which surpasses all that he has seen before. So Endger decides to get to the bottom of true. The name of a picture sends us to latin praestigium, that illusion, a deceit of feelings means. In professional circles prestige name a final part of focus when the spectator understands, that he has deceived, but does not know how. Impressing, bright prestige – dream of any illusionist. Shooting a film about conjurers and the nature of illusion, Christopher Nolan, naturally, wished to tell much more. Borden and Andger it is not simple enemies, they antipodes, representatives of opposite outlooks. The director only illustrates their mutual relations where everyone will appear not without a sin, remaining outside the fight. All rest: sympathies, conclusions – on conscience of each of us.
I have seen this film and in my opinion, it merits the highest grade!
